I see CRS on aquabid.com pretty regularly, but they are going for a ton of money, eeek. I believe they can cross with tigers, but I have never had tigers before myself.

Yes, CRS will cross-breed with Tiger shrimp and should not be kept together. I'm told they don't cross with cherries, but it's best to keep species separate in my opinion.

ok thanks, i've seen the crs on aquabid and they go for $5 each and for 10 of them which is usualy the minimum or 8 then that is quite costly :/ then theres overnight shipping which is like $40 :/ but i see lots of people around with planted tanks who have it and i was wondering if anyone was selling them a tad bit cheaper Maybe i'll just get one of those from aquabid, too bad so many other people want them too

Most everyone I know of that has them has paid the premium price that they go for in order to obtain them. The prices will come down eventually, but you may have to wait a year or two.

I paid the price because I really wanted crystal reds bad. In fact, I was "shaking the tree" so hard looking for some that I ended up finding two sources (and buying from both). I predict we will see their prices go down in about a year. Just as the price of cherry shrimp had declined from last summer to this summer the crystal reds will come down as more people who have aquired them are able to breed them. I don't see them going to $1 each like the cherries but I can see them at around $5 next summer.
Another example is tiger shrimp. I am having no problem at all selling them for $3 and probably could get more if I was greedy. Again, by next summer, though, all the people I have sold tigers to will be selling them also. Its basic economics, if supply increases and demand stays the same the price will fall.
Finally, my $5 prediction applies only to lower grade crystal reds. The top CRS go for unbelievable prices in Asia and it is my opinion that these are not the shrimp we generally see in the USA.

How much did frank sell per crs? I might get some shrimp after Christmas because I'm going on a 2 week vacation and my cousins are supposedly gonna help take care of my shrimp and fish and my plants (gulp) and they have been known to kill a lot of fish. So I'll just stay with some cheaper cherries and hopefully be able to give some to my friend in a month or two that way when i get back from Christmas they will have plenty of babies to start off and same goes for plants . Then I'll get some crs .

I don't think Frank's ever carried CRS. Pricing is going to stay high for a while, at least until more people are breeding domestically. Look at the Aquabid auctions, there are upwards of 500 page views on almost ever CRS auction except for the few where the seller just starts the pricing in the stratosphere to start. These greedy folks really get my ire up too. I understand capitalism and supply and demand but then there is usurious pricing too. One way to stop these gougers is not to bid on their stuff. I'll step off my soapbox now.
