I think the biggest challenge will be the distance from the top of the tank to the bottom, especially the distance from the top-front or side of the tank to any location not at the front of the tank. Unless you have really, really long arms, you can't reach nearly that far. That makes tank maintenance, planting the plants, pruning the plants, picking up dead leaves, etc. extremely hard and frustrating. I wouldn't even consider a tank higher than two feet, for that reason. Also, at 3 foot water depth, the loss of intensity due to the water absorbing the light becomes significant.

Light intensity decreases with the distance squared, so a 3 foot high tank needs light more than twice as bright as a 2 foot high tank. But, unless that light is hanging a foot or more above the top of the tank, the light intensity near the top of the tank is many times brighter than at the substrate, and that can make it hard to keep algae under control.

There are several websites that have information on how thick the glass needs to be. Just Google it. In any case that will be a very heavy tank.
