Default Hardscape in SoCal (Rock& Wood)

This might make a good sticky someday

I have had a tough time finding suitable hardscape materials locally. Looking for rock, I've checked rockyards, LFSs, etc., and have found nothing worthy of an Amano-inspired rockscape.

Any sources?

Nothing in the lfs' down here is worth much. I haven't been to RCP near me to look at rocks yet, but will get there eventually.

Manzanita.com is in Anza Borrego, but that's further for you than me.

John,
If you want the real ADA hardscape materials, contact aquaforest in San Francisco. Steven has a good eye for getting you quality pieces. These guys are really passionate about the hobby and run a really great store. They have three types, Ohko stone, Manten & Seiyu rock. The Ohko can be found locally (do a seach for rocks and stores in LA will come up). The Seiyu is the best and what you are used to seeing in the magazine. The Manten is not worth it, it's like $5.99 a pound. The Seiyu is $3.99 a pound. I bought 10 lbs of the Seiyu for my 20 gallon. Liked what I got so much that I ordered another 20 lbs. I got tired of driving around looking for this stuff. Btw, thanks for the Cherry's. They are breeding like crazy!

ADA driftwood pricing are as follow:

Small: $9.00 approx (5"~ 8")
Medium: $18.00 approx (9"~12")
Large: $28.00 approx (13"~15")
X-Large: $38.00 approx (16"~22")
Seiyu

Ohko

Aqua Forest is where I made the stop and gave up. I drove up last year and bought out all their Seiryu and half of the Ohko. I might just have to go there again....
