Default living long beach?

this isn't about fish, but I was wondering, since some of you guys live in long beach, if you guys had suggestions about good areas to live, as well as specific places. I'm considering working at Miller Children's Hospital but I'm not really familiar with the area or city. I am female and single, and white, so safety is one of the biggest things I'm concerned about...

thanks so much!

If you really want to be safe, there's a fairly strong "Alternative Lifestyle" neighborhood near Belmont Shores IIRC. But then again, I only went to the Olympic Pool there for CIF games and races.

Cassie,

Check your PM.

You may also want to look at Lakewood.

Most of the nicer areas of LBC are "alternative lifestyle" now, btw. I live on a nice street quite a ways from Belmont Shore and my street is nearly half same-sex couples. You can tell, because they have the nicest houses.

I'm not stereotyping, but that's really funny!

thanks for your suggestions/tips/advice! Keep it coming too, if you have more. I'm an OC girl, so when I think of LB, I really think of "ghetto" for the most part. I know there are nice areas and REALLY NICE areas, but to me it's really been a place that I've just driven through, often with my doors locked! lol...

It's funny that my wife and I just stayed in LB for my birthday (did a whole trip to the AoP) and we stayed in this B&B run by this gay couple that were so adorable. My wife now wants to stay there all the time.

I'd like to keep the commute to about 15 minutes, 20 max. I actually have an interview tomorrow, so I may drive around the area and check it out

Well, I had my first interview at Miller Children's today, and it seemed to go well and I liked the place. I around some areas that had apartments I had looked at online and an area that has a few complexes is around where PCH, Los Coyotes Diagonal and Lakewood blvd meet. Driving around it looked pretty decent...does anyone know if it really is?
