Description: A heater that is built to last. This tintanium heater is for the aquarist who is tired of having their heaters break to do accidental drops or over heating. Made of durable titanium, this heater will stand up to the needs of both fresh and saltwater aquariums. A wall mounted controller (included) allows you to adjust the temperature without getting your hands wet. A separate temperature sensor helps with accurate temperature control.

Pros: submersible, easy to adjust, no glass to break
Cons: quality control ,don\'t trust the temperature dial

I have used a 300 watt in my 90gallon tank for about 2 years and had no problem.
I put one 50 watt in my 10 gallon quarantine tank and had to replace 2 of them within a couple of months time. It seems as though if it is going to break it will do so in a relatively short period of time. The heaters did fail in the off position. The dial temperature adjustment is hard to zero in on exactly the right temp. so I would definitely suggest an alternate thermometer somewhere in the tank and use that one as a gauge as to whether or not adjust the heater up or down. They seem to maintain the temperature pretty steady. Is nice not having to worry about the glass breaking. I do like this heater but I do have some hesitation on giving it a full blown endorsement due to the breakdowns. I guess like any piece of equipment you need to monitor it.....this one is no exception.

Pros: Unbreakable, external temperature control, consistent temps
Cons: Stops working, lots of wires to arrange in the tank.

I have been using this heater in different tanks over the years, but recently they've just started failing within a year. I've had two, maybe three of them just quit in this past year, so something has possibly changed with the design.
I have an older one that's been running in a 55 gallon tank for 2 or 3 years and it hasn't missed a beat. If I would have stopped at just that one heater, I would have strongly recommended them.

I also have another one that is working fine, but must be leaking stray voltage into the tank, since I get a little zap when I put my hand in there if the heater is on.
