The Eheim Professional II's streamlined square design ensures stability with greater filter volume. Startup is easy - just press the pump head to activate the convenient integrated starter system. You'll always know exactly when to clean your filter thanks to a handy visual flow meter. Plus, a double-tap connector ingeniously combines automatic integrated shutoff valves, hose connections, and locking clamp in one convenient unit.

Pros:
|
Compactness, self-sealing, self-priming
|
Cons:
|
Seal clips will not connect on rare occasions, double checking after maintenance is a good idea.

I\'ve been using the Pro II series Eheim canisters for a couple years now and have to say they\'re the best filters I\'ve laid my hands on. It\'s quiet, powerful, and really easy to use. These are the cleanest canister filters I\'ve encountered, both in looks and in use.

Pros:

Easy to use and clean, silent, powerful

Cons:
|
unsightly inlet strainer

The Eheim Professional II is, without a doubt, the best cannister filter there is. It is silent, easy to clean, powerful (yet easily adjustable), easy to get started, and very well made. It handles co2 injection without issue. I will never again use anything else.

Pros:

Solidly built, easy to clean and use, completely silent
|
Cons:
|
None that I've found except rather pricey

This is one of the most well built pieces of aquarium equipment that I've seen. I've been using a 2026 on my 72 gallon for a couple of years and I've been completely happy with it. I also have an Ehiem ECCO on a 38 gallon tank and, considering the much lower price, have been happy with it also. It's main shortcomings from my standpoint are lower volume and a little hum. The sound from the ECCO is slight but the absolutely silent Pro II can spoil you. If I were in the market for another canister filter for a mid size (55 gallon or above) tank today, I would certainly buy another Pro II.

My eheim 2026 was an excellent choice for my 55 gallon. Highly recommend it. Very quiet- not silent, but hardly any sound from within a cabinet.

Pros:

Quiet, keeps water clear, easy cleaning, hold much filtering material
|
Cons:
|
none

I am using on 29gal until 55gal arrives. Adjustable air flow makes this possible. The 2 baskets in the 2026 holds a lot of material and makes for easy replacement of old filter material.
