I got a 2.5G recently, and decide to write a journal of setting it up. I am new to nano tanks, so this is my first try. I'll post what I did, and the result. Here are the specs:

tanks: 2.5G
Light: Home depot 27W
filter: red sea nano HOB filter
substrate: ADA amazonia
plants: Blyxa J. and HC
CO2: DIY into the intake of filter
dosing: currently only Excel. planning to use EI when the plants settle down.

week2, which is today.

My betta moves in to his new home.

plants update: still no apparent change, but the Blyxa is pearling, and I noticed HC is also producing bubbles, which is a good sign that they are growing.

Nice setup. Having seen some of the other nano tanks, removing the frame on top would have made the tank really beautiful. Just something to think about for later.

This should work out well.

Can you please share your specs?

regards,
Ravi

Thanks for the comment, Ravi. yes, I have been thinking about the rimless option. However, I am afraid I might break the tank when removing the frame, and my notebook sitting next to the tank is another big concern. so for now, I'll keep the frame on until I am confident enough.

Does the intake of the filter have a large enough opening for the CO2 airline tube?

You can see from the picture above, I drilled a hole on one side of the intake tube. .:)
