At the moment, the tank doesn't look that great...but it shouldn't

One thing that the scape is lacking, is some sort of texture or color. There is nothing wrong with a green scape, but this needs one of those two things. Since this is a low light tank, perhaps something in the anubias family? The dark shades and new leaf shapes should work for you. Perhaps either Coffeefolia or Barteri?
