Amano shrimp filter feeders as well?????

I'd noticed 'odd' behavior from my amano shrimp. Sometimes they would stick their little claws straight out and kind of vibrate them a bit. They'd occasionally pull them back in and then stick them back out. At first I thought there was something wrong with them, but I finally got a really good look at what one was doing and noticed that the claws it was sticking out had fans of little hairs on them and they were collecting stuff floating in the water.

I don't see them do it often... mostly they crawl around and pick at things. I didn't know amanos did this though?
