Pretty new to the forum here, and this'll be my first post. Been focusing on keeping plants now for a few years. Currently running a Dennerle set-up, 180 litres. It's been up and running now for a while and was my first foray into dedicated plant keeping and am planning to tear it down soon. Am about to set up another tank and am going to experiment with some higher light levels using one of the new Arcadia luminaires running 4 very high output T5's, with an open top. I'll try and post some pics when it is up and running. Meantime, once I tear down my Dennerle system, I'm planning an all glass rimless extravaganza. I'd be keen to try some ADA products with this tank-just need to find the best price to ship to the UK!

This is a great site by the way-particularly for those of us in the UK where the hobby is much less well developed

Cheers,
Nick

Welcome, Nick. Good to have you on board at APC.

In the UK, you have access to Tropica plants, something people in the USA cannot get at the present time. Some of the European products are not so readilly available here either.

My family lives in the UK, near Arundel in Sussex. Where are you located?

Andrew,

I'm in Berkshire. You're right about access to European products, Dennerle, Dupla, JBL, and Tropica. I'm surprised though at how difficult it is get hold of decent Tropcia plants here, other than by mail order (i've used a Dennerle/Tropica specialist called New Leaf in the past), and decent plants in general in my LFS's. Tropica supply a large pet store chain, and to be honest, not being specialists, the plants in my local outlet of this chain pretty much rot in the holding tanks...Still, at least I can get hold of them when I put my mind to it, and they are always of top quality when sourced from a decent outlet. Have you ever used Dennerle ferts?

Nick,

I can't get my hands on Dennerle here in NYC. It's easier to get Seachem products, Flourish line of fertilizers and Flourite substrate etc. I've been using raw chemicals such as KNO3 etc and some accessories such as Tropica Master Grow, Flourish.... and have ordered some ADA products which seem to be becoming available in the USA (at last).

Plant sources here in NYC are limited to one or two shops (not great) and the ubiquitous mail (now Internet) order, which is somewhat limited in winter by freezing temperatures depending on where one is located.
