I just bought a used Hach DR 2000. I use a similar piece of equipment where I work. A good colorimeter is just light-years beyond test strips. So now I'm considering which reagents to buy & what levels to consider normal for those tests.

If you use a colorimeter what are the normal levels of things you test for?

Hach reagents are a breeze to use, just open a reagent packet. The hach meter was once up a time calibrated for it.

The reagent kits do usually cover the best range already. For Nitrate I went with the midrange kit. K tests are dam expensive, even if you buy the rare reagent. In the end you always can dilute your sample with distilled water to get it into the midrange of your reagents.

Testing if fun. But it will not guarantee a clean well developing tank. Just remember that and don't get bogged down in chasing numbers.
