Do amano shrimp eat that annoying stringy utricularia?

No, they don't. The only way you can get rid of it is by getting in there and manually removing it. You may have a big job ahead of you. :(
The freshwatr scud, Gammarus eats it, but it also eats all the rest of your plants. It has to be removed manually. It is a lot more resistant to bleach, than hair algae, also.
Sounds good, I have it isolated to one tank and I have been removing it by hand every so often. It came in on some plants from an online seller....

On a side note, I actually have tiny amphipods in my tank that came in on some native moss I collected.
Why not try rosy barbs. They eat hair algae and might just eat this stuff.
