Got them a couple of days ago and they look great - i'm just not sure if they are "real" waterplants. Reson i'm asking is that they are very stirdy and stiff - not the most common trait for an aquatic plant

Probably not. If they are not aquatic like I suspect then you might get a few weeks out of them if you are lucky.

Your instincts about hard stems not being aquatic species is generally a very good way of telling aquatic plants apart.

Yup non aquatic.

the narrow leafed grassy one is Mondo Grass. I have some of that, but not in an aquarium. it can handle occasional submergances, but nothing permamant. it'll rot and spoil your water.

I recommend taking them out and putting them in a flower pot. keep the roots fairly moist. it'll look good then.
