I am thinking about starting a nano but i have no idea where to start. i have a 30 gallon now planted which is doing very good. the fish are healthy and the plants are doing good. does anyone have a link or maybe just add some of your own personnel experience. i think i would do like a 2-5 gallon but i have no idea where to get rimless tanks or how much they cost. so ill organize my question:

1. how much does a nano cost?

2. what equipment will be required?

3. where do I get rimless tanks?

4. how much harder are they than a 15 or 30 gallon tank?

5. can I use diy co2?

and theres many more questions so feel free to say whatever applies!!

1. how much does a nano cost?
if you already have some spare equipment, it can save you tons.

2. what equipment will be required?
same as your other tank

3. where do I get rimless tanks?
ADA
JBJ picotope
tom deco kit
finnex
aquanature the aqua coccoon
or just de-rimm the regular tanks

4. how much harder are they than a 15 or 30 gallon tank?
no experience with anything larger than a 5 gallon

5. can I use diy co2?
yes, or excel

The largest aquarium I have is a 75 gallon and the smallest is a 2 gallon with 6 others between and my favorite is the 2 gallon. Nano's are so much fun!

Everything for my nano was made by me except for the tank. (which I modified as well- took the rim off) Filter, light, and CO2. If you can keep your 30 gallon running smoothly a smaller tank should be no problem so long as you watch the water parameters.

If you want a rimless nano I think it's cheaper to take the rim off of a normal prefabricated aquarium.
