Hey CAPErs,
I have a beautiful 3.5" SAE that has outgrown my tank. He is not happy. Free to a good home with a big tank....help a gal (and a fish) out?
thanks,
penny

nope, I'm crying because nobody wants him!

OK, how about if I throw in a GIANT Red Rubin Sword mother plant?? It's taking over my 58. It has a huge arm sticking out of the water. I'm waiting for babies/flowers.

HALP take my big fish and big plant please!

It's not that I don't have space for him (I have a 55g with a few young Botias - they'll be moved to a 120 oceanic when they outgrow their current home, but for now your SAE would probably get along with them). It's just that I'm afraid he'll decimate my moss collection. I hear SAEs and mosses are a bad combo... and I have some very cool, very unusual moss species. I can't think of a tank I have that's both large enough to house a fish like that, and moss-free...

hmmm. I had lotsa moss and he didn't touch it...but I can appreciate your concerns. Do you have moss in the 120 too?

Hmm... well, maybe I could take him in, then. I can't do so immediately, as I'm in Florida at the moment and then have college stuff to deal with 'til mid-May, but if he hasn't found a better home by then I guess I can take him (I am, however, in Fairfield so it's a bit of a hike...). I'll just pull out the nicest mosses first :p If he gets hungry, there's some cladophora in the 55 he can nibble at.

As for the 120, it's currently not filled all the way and houses my emersed plants, so it can't become home for your SAE at the moment. One of my projects for the summer is kicking all the emersed specimens outside to grow in the (free!) sunlight and setting up the 120 for the Botias.

The sword, however, is welcome to appear on my doorstep at any time. As soon as it warms up I'll put it outside in a tub and it can grow as big as it darn well pleases and make as many babies as it can.

Ok then, it's a deal....if the fish and the sword are still around when you get back (PM me) we can maybe meet somewhere?

But I will continue to try & place them. thanks
