I have some 8" blue neons from my younger days and cars lying arond. If I mounted these in my 2 24" hoods for my 75 gal tank do you think they would be sufficient for a moonlight effect? I do have a 36" tube lying around but I would have to do some pretty food modification on my hoods or make one.

I have been doing a lot of reading and I have not read about anyone using a neon to get the moonlight look.

What are your thoughts?

I guess no one has used neons before. I will just have to experiment tonight then...

If anyone cares the little neon tubes work great. I used a convertor that I got from Radio shack and they light up the tank really well. I thought that they were 8" from memory but they were only 5".

I am not going to permenetly mount them until I make a decision on my official light set up. See my other post....
