Hello all. As the title states, can the AH supply ballasts be wired to run t5? I now have an extra 2x55 light laying around and was thinking of throwing some t5's on my tall tank because the PC's are not cutting it.
If it is possible, is there any negatives to this?(shorter bulb life, heat, bulb efficiency, fire, etc.)

Thanks.

Absolutely yes.

Look at the wiring diagram. It's for a Compact Fluorescent bulb which is nothing else but a T5 bulb bent like the letter "U". Imagine straightening the "U" and you will see how you have to wire the T5.

AHSupply sells Fulham Workhorse ballasts. Great ballast, can be used for many different bulbs/combinations. Their website is www.fulham.com. Use the drop boxes to the right to select your bulb and the site will show you a diagram for the wiring. You most likely have a Workhorse 5.

No drawbacks to using the Workhorse ballast. You are going to love the T5, they run very cool.
