Hi picked this up at the local pet store, they said it was caled a wax plant. Can not find any info on it.

I don't know exactly what it is, but I can tell you that it's not an aquatic plant. It will eventually rot away. I don't know why aquarium shops do this other than "people buy it," but it's a practice that's generally frowned upon by aquarists (to put it lightly).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. It is a lovely plant, though. I'll bet it'll stay beautiful in a pot or terrarium.

I though that it wasn't an aquatic plant also. The thing is I have had it in my tank about 6weeks now and it s growing. There are roots growing down to the gravel and new buds forming. I guess if it wasn't aquatic it is now :lol:

Well, at least be cautiously optimistic. If you've heard of "mondo grass," this stuff is another non-aquatic that's often sold as an aquatic, and it can actually survive and even put out new growth under water for months. At some point, however, it supposedly starts rotting away. Never tried it myself...

Whether or not you manage to keep it alive for the long-term, it's a beautiful plant for now. If you do start noticing degradation in the condition of the plant, you should remove it immediately. Good luck!

I think it is Hemigraphis Alternata, not a true aquatic plant but I have seen some examples start to root well, but sadly still lose there leaves.

True Deep that is the plant so I pulled it out of the tank and found that it had a huge root system, figured better safe than sorry chucked it and replaced it with some cuttings from my other plants. Thanks to both of you who have posted replies. This can be all very overwhelming and all help is appreciated
