I set up a 40 gallon outside to culture daphnia which is currently sustaining a healthy population. It is bare bottom with potted plants for easy setup and take down. I am looking for a solution to grow out my fry (platy and swordtail) with what I have and was wondering if they would be okay in the daphnia culture. My current concerns are:

1) will the yeast that I feed the daphnia harm my fry? Typically I add a teaspoon or so and the water will be clouded with yeast for a few days.

2) Will the abundance of daphnia harm my fry via overfeeding or will the fry only eat when they are hungry?

3) Other concerns?

Good question about the yeast on fish. I've always been paranoid about the yeast affecting the fish's gills.
Besides, the fry would eat all the daphnia so I raise them separately. Currently, I'm raising some fries in my shrimp tank, not minding them eating the baby shrimps.
