Just found this while browsing around, looks promising, fixture and ballast for 80 bucks.
Anyone tried this yet?

it looks just like the mercury vapor light I have over one of my tanks. The fixture is bullet proof, I'd definitely recommend it.

Adapting that as a tank light would be a nice DIY project, and it should look very good. I bookmarked that page for possible future use.

My 10 gallon moss farm with stand made to hold the fixture. The clear bulb that came with it really makes the moss light up, but the phosphor coated bulb puts out a really pink light which I am sure is much more full spectrum.


I took the picture as the light was warming up.
