Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on how to clean the acrylic shields which come on a lot of lights? When going topless (open top ) sometimes I get some droplets of water on the shield which produces calcium deposits.
I use mild detergent (dish soap) and warm water. You want to make sure you rinse well, though. Also, vinegar is safe to use on acrylic, but I do not use ammonia-containing products (like windex).
The small algea pads for acrylic tanks do a fair job with just water to clean off heavy stains. I also use a little of the spray for cleaning up tanks on sides if it extra heavy and rinse good. My light is on an open top so gets a little spray from the hob.
