A big water change would have been helpful to your fish also in removing CO2 and introducing more oxygen into your tank. The airstone will help do that also. So reset your CO2 to a level that doesn't stress the fish and be sure you have some agitation of the water surface to help with gas exchange.

Since your dropchecker indicated your CO2 level was good I'd just leave it there for a few days and see how the fish and plants do. If the fish are good and you think you need additional CO2, then you can try increasing it slowly over a few days to allow the fish time to adjust. If both seem happy then I'd keep it as it is.
