If it comes from a good source it will survive a week in the mail no problem. I've been shipping this plant to other hobbists for about a year now and have never had any problems, I've also kept it in plastic tubs for a week before shipping it. The major issue with ordering this plant from a store is that most do not have the right conditions to keep it healthy and alive, so by the time it is shipped it's already in a terrible state. It will loose many needles but in no way does that mean it's dying.
I did a major pruning recently and sent all of mine out, I only have a couple stems at the moment, if you are still looking for this plant in about a week when it's time to cut them back again I can send it to you. I'm in north Philadelphia.
