I want to upgrade my Ehiem 2213 filter to either an Ehiem 2215 or 2217.

My tank is full of plants and has a high population of fish due to them breeding, and I feel the 2213 isnt providing enough flow or filteration.

I am leaning towards the 2217 but want to make sure it wouldnt be too much for a 29 gallon.

Thanks in advance.

I'm using a 2217 on my 29 gal. with the outlet feeding a 2"x24" Rex style Co2 reactor, then through a Hydor in-line heater and exiting in the spraybar. It doesnt seem like to much flow for me. The tank has a nice gentle flow and maintains a good Co2 level besides being crystal clear.

I have a 29 gal heavily planted tank and using
a 2215. I wish I had gone w/ the 2217 though. So
IMO I would go w/ the 2217. If your worried about the outlet
flow pressure you could do one of two things. Use a large
glass lily pipe (I would go w/ the glassware) or drill a few
more holes in the spry bar so theres less pressure per hole.
