I have some A. helena assassin snails for sale. These guys seek out and feed on other snails in your tank and other than empty snail shells from their meals, do their best to keep your tank pretty clean. Currently able to sell in packages of 5 for $30 plus $10 USPS priority shipping (which includes heatpack if necessary). Shipping size of the snails is approximately pea size.

Can these breed in fresh water?

I'm sure I.C. will be available to answer this question very soon, but just to help a bit: yes. From what I've read and been told by those who have experience with these fascinating creatures, they are egg-layers that breed in regular freshwater, albeit not in the numbers that, say, the ubiquitous Pond Snail produces.

Yes, they sure do and they have done so in much greater numbers than I expected. I had originally read something to the effect that one should expect approximately one egg laid a week. In my tanks, it seems to have been much more than this. Once they became comfortable with their new surrounding, I have been seeing little ones popping up all over the place.

How cool is this. I've never seen assassin snail here. Uh, question - what do they eat when there are no more snails to eat?

They will also go after pellet food in the tank, or otherwise forage around like other snails do. However, given the opporutnity, they will latch on to a nearby snail and attempt to clean out its shell.

I have these snails with my red cherries, no problems whatsoever.

I have not observed any cannibal behavior, but rather I have seen a pair of them work at the same time to attack a rams horn bigger than the both of them put together.

Further, I have not seen anything remotely indicating they would attack shrimp. In fact, it is very commom for shrimp to basically climb on board when the snails are eating food, traveling around or attempting to eat another snail, but notwithstanding, the shrimp are just ignored.
