My experience is that the basic requirements to grow this plant are KH < 1 and well fertilized water.
In addition, moderate light is better than direct (strong) light.
really, it was my impression that most toninas require very high light would you say moderate light is favored for belem too? I just got some super healthy belem from a friend (tom barr) and its starting to look raggy in my tank for unkown reasons. I have about 5.5 wpg CFL, adequate pressurized co2, heavy EI ferts, ADA aquasoil, kh around 2, very good flow/ filtration and it still isn't looking good. any help would be appreciated

okay thanks for the help guys it was my assumption that they might be adapting to new waters its been in my tank for 3-4 days the growth on the top looks really healthy I might just whack all the lower growth and only plant the tops.

"A few tips for growing Toninas: if you find brown spots on the leaves, dose more K. If you find the leaves become yellowish, dose more N. If you find the old leaves start to melt, lower KH"

I like that rule of thumb hehe ill have to remember that

I guess plant finder isn't always correct when it comes to light
requirements haha ;)
