Hi, I'm new to this forum but have been in a hobby for a few years.
I started back in -75, with the typical story, keeping guppies in a jar. Since then lot of water has flown under the bridge and I have 3 tanks at the moment. Past ten years I've been mainly focusing on plants.
Picture lies better than thousand words ;)

Welcome to the board Yanna. I get surprised at how these forums become ever so increasingly global!

Minnesota is largely Scandinavian. Many Swedes and Fins I know. My relatives happen to come from Norway.

Yanna... Welcome to APC

Those tanks are big/long, I bet it took a while to plant them.

Your tanks are very nice, great job!

Thank you for your kind words *blushing*
The truth is that I know nothing about aquascaping and I'm so greedy when it comes to, how many species i wanna put in a one tank... I just have to have almost everything I can get hold on and push them in tank ;)
In Finland we can only get plants from two nurseries, Tropica and AquaFlora.
Thats the way it has been for as long as I can remember and I'm so fed up that we get new plant or two in every five years or so. I was hoping that maybe when winter is over, someone would like to trade something? I understood that you don't have Tropicas plants?

Here we have used PMDD for 5-6 years or so, but estimative index is only used by few people. I'll pass the invite to Saurama :) Small world, he's a friend of mine :)

We had this big event recently and even had Cristel Kasselman telling us about her collecting trips :) We also had Sune Holm from sweden, teaching us how to make your own "back to nature" backrounds. He was one of the original designers and invented the method.
Local club had aquarium show, some pictures taken by me here http://www.aqua-web.org/nayttely/ Those we the special treats we had and probably have to wait 10 years for next ones :( Thats the price you have pay when living in a small country :(

Yanna,

That's interesting. No Tropica here, as you said. In warmer weather, I'd be happy to send you something. How about some Taiwan moss? What are you in need of. Usually, a Global Priority mail envelope arrives within 3 days to a centrally located town, from the USA. Small envelopes are USD4.50 and larger ones USD9.00, the last time I looked.

Now tell us some more about that "V8" "retro" aquarium of yours ;-)

Yanna... I looked through all the pics, very interesting. The one with the dolls was a surprise, Was that just for show? I really liked the tank with the pool table and car in it, that was just so differant and that appealed to me for some reason.

I thought Tropica was a great place to buy plants from, I have heard so much about them. But I guess when you live there and that is only one of the two places to buy from then it gets kind of boring and you want something differant.

Now I'm getting a bit paranoid :D How did you know, that from 70 tanks that was on the show, that was the one I did :O

I was asked to do something commercial, as most of the tanks were "natural" and would look the same to the general non-aquarist public. I came out with the idea that how my hobbies are so different to each other, still had something in common. Number 8 :D Pool table in the garage and convertible Impala -60 in a backyard ;) Cars and the pool table were coated with "aquarium lack" to make them safe for the figure eights. You aren't gonna see anything unnatural in my own tanks ;)

All those tanks were just for the show. Theme in the dolls tank were "Adam & Eve in paradise with the snake" Unfortunately the apple did not stay in put and floated on the surface and most of the time snake (Erpetoichthys calabaricus) was hiding in the bushes :D
