I found some interesting bugs in my filter media (AquaClear 110). Hope you can help me ID this bug. There are other varieties (maybe shrimp-like larvae of the same guy). No signs of disease in my fishies, moderetely FW planted tank.

To me it looks kind of like a dragonfly larvae but from the picture it's hard to tell. Is there any way that you can get a close up picture of it.
I don't see how it could be one though unless you had your tank outside or it got transported with a plant.

Definitely looks like a flying-insect-baby. Some of them can be a nutritious food source for fish, but others, like dragonfly nymphs, are predators of small fish.

I had a few of these in my outdoor floating plant and lotus pond and they did wonders by taking care of all of the mosquito larvae.

My first guess would be damselfly larva, second guess would be stonefly. Its hard to tell with the small picture. Most stoneflies just crawl and damselflies swim if that helps. They're all predators.

Thank you. They probably use my filters to live in these stages, no free swimmers in the tank per se. I will let tank-nature take its course
