Hey guys, I'm fairly new to pressurized co2 systems and I've hit a wall. I've recently ordered some HC and I want to make a carpet. High lights isn't going to be a problem but the co2 will be. So, I've intended to use a 20oz paintball tank and I ran across a "simple" to use regulator. The first one should come up "Aquarium CO2 Simple Regulator - Diffuser Adjuster moss" So, my question is.. Do I need an adapter? It doesn't look like it has one in the photo.

yup, this issue has been covered a couple of times..
and I feel your pain I also ran rings around myself trying to work up a more simple (and cheaper) solution... I'm a very handy guy, (retired flight engineer) and at the end of the day I spent probably $75 for junk that I didn't use (and won't )
I'd suggest you get a decent (new) 5lb proper C02 tank: ($55)

and an inexpensive (single stage) proper C02 regulator with Needle Valve and Solenoid:

for SLIGHTLY over $100, you've got a proper pressurized C02 system that will keep your plants beautiful, won't break the bank and will likely function without issue for years. (ok, you have to refill the c02 bottle 2-3 times a year... )

From what I've been told, using a paintball set up may not save much, if any, money. (But it can be just the right thing if space is a consideration.)

How big a tank do you plan to use this on? A 20 oz paintball tank may not last very long, and frequent refills could end up costing you more time and money in the long run. I'm not familiar with the particular regulator you have linked to, so I have no idea if it is compatible with paintball tanks in the US (I notice the vendor ships from Taiwan), or if you need an adaptor of some sort. I notice the listing does mention the thread size, though( which would probably mean something to someone who has a clue -- but that someone is not me! )

I have used the Aquatek regulator for a few months, and it has worked well for me so far.
