I was browsing thru aquabid.com when an specific item caught my attention:
http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.cgi?fwusnative&1225925409
the seller: Snakeskin , (Minnesota MN 55378 United States)is selling California White Sturgeon Babies. I'm a Biology student at FSU, and find this repulsive. Mainly because this species is EXTREMELY endangered and its illegal to catch or sell (including babies). I tried contacting the Dpt. of wildlife with no luck is there anyone who can give me any information on how to report this guy or report him themselves? I'm just looking to make a difference in the population of this beautiful national treasure!

I appreciate your interest in preserving endangered species. However, the white sturgeon is not in that category. There is a legal sport and commercial fishery for them.

However, I believe that there are minimum size limits, and those that are being offered for sale are probably too small to be legal. The size limit (once and maybe still six feet) was set to allow the fish to get old enough to spawn before it could be captured.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to buy a fish that could grow to be over 100 pounds. In addition to criticizing the Aquabid seller, those people who buy those fish should be subject to even more criticism. After all, without buyers there would be no market for those fish.

If you want to get the state of California involved in this, a good starting point is http://www.fgc.ca.gov/. Google is your friend.
