My boyfriend has a lovely betta fish named Luci. For the past several weeks, Luci has been sinking to the bottom of the tank. He can still get to the top for air and food, but I am noticing damage to his fins from all the contact with the bottom.

My boyfriend has tried peas, fasting, fixing the water temperature, and feeding frozen food (brine shrimp). He has not tried daphnia or salt or any medications. Luci has not responded to any treatments so far.

The tank is 7.5 gallons, planted but not Walstad method. Has a filter and a heater. Tank mates are three amano shrimp.

Any advice? It makes me sad to see him on the bottom all the time. He’s such a great fish. I want to help him get better.
