Does anyone know of any freshwater fish native to Japan that are available in the trade? I'm looking for fish that would do well in an unheated tank (60's-70's).

I've found Paradise fish, 3-spine sticklebacks, and dojos that I can get just about anywhere. But, has anyone heard of Oryzias latipes (Japanese madaka)? They seem to be like danios in the research world, but I don't think I've ever run across them at any LFS.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Oryzias spp. are also known commonly as ricefish. Nice little schooling fish that we used to carry occasionally at the LFS. Some species had lampeyes. However, I don't remember the scientific name. I know Amano used endemic fish in his tanks through books 1&2 (don't own 3 so don't know about that one).
