Just wondering

Hello everyone, new to the forum and I must say great site. O.K. I'll get to the point and make this some-what quick and simple. Forgive me, these couple of questions might just be stupid to ask.

1) Is there any fert. you can use that is available at the local home & gardening store?
2) And, can you use the chelated iron tablets that you would find at a vitamin store?

- Thank You

Welcome aboard :D

There is some powder stump removers that you can buy to use for potassium nitrate. Just make sure there is no other additives. One brand is "Greenlight stump remover".

I've heard of others using vitamins in the substrate, but I have no personal experience with it.
I'm wondering why you would want to do this. Dry ferts are so cheap on the net that it would cost you more to get vitamins and local ferts. I use dry ferts - dose them dry. It's very cheap. You can get them at greenleafaquariums.com, rexgrigg.com and other places. A years supply is about $19.
Thanks for the replies. I was just curious to see if there was any alternative options from ordering over the net and or from the LFS. I agree, greenleafaquariums.com is cheap on their dry ferts. and probably will be going that route.
Hi 1fastneonrt,

If you live in an area where there are indoor gardening / hydroponic shops, they may carry the fertilizers and trace elements. I would call first and make sure they have what you are looking for, also watch out for additives.
I would agree with the dry ferts being very cheap. Well worth this route than chasing down all the other stuff which would be more expensive in the long run.
