I have soft water out of the tap, GH 3 deg, kh 4. I recently bought Kent gh which is for of course raising gh. It contains deionized water, calcium salts and magnesium salts. My questions are first what is a good level of gh to aim for and also, if I use this stuff at water changes, does that mean I don't have to add calcium and mag.? Thanks for the input.

Or to make your life much easier, use Equilibrium. Not only does it add both Ca and Mg, it also gives you a large amount of K(~50ppm).

Hi John,

you can use a Discus Mix,

3.0g CaSO4
1.0g CaCl2
1.0g MgSO4
1.5g soda

dose dry, test for GH or Ca.
You know what is going in to your aquarium with this mix.
