Lotus Question

I got this Tiger Lotus from the lfs. Usually it comes with some roots and a bunch of stems held in a plastic pot. I saw this one with its bulb and after some convincing he let me have it. I've put it in my tank and its growing well, with lots of new roots and new shoots. But the roots are not from the bulb. They are from a 'node' some distance away. The lfs guy told me they never sell the bulb. They usually cut the main 'stem' off just below that node and sell the top part and keep the bulb.

I would like some advice on this. Should I cut it off and plant the roots in the gravel? Or should I just leave it like that?

I have these and I cut or pull the plant off of the main bulb and plant it. The bulb will always make new plants.

Thanks. I was scared to cut it. Do I leave the bulb fully submerged until it produces a new plant?
Ya, I would just try to tease it away from the bulb rather than cut it. If you gently pull it off some of the roots will come with it, which I think helps. Yes, just leave the bulb in your tank and you will see new growth in a while.
