I don't think any small filter element will remove 1 micron sized particles. That is the reason diatomaceous earth filters were developed. Filters that remove such small particles have a very small capacity before they are plugged up.
I used a HOT Magnum 250 filter for several months, and it absolutely didn't remove extremely fine particles. It was a pretty effective filter for general filtration, but it would plug up within less than a week. People who use that filter for green water removal do so by charging it with DE first, and recharging it often.
