Is there a minimum hardness required to keep nerites since they need the calcium and other minerals to build their shells? I got about 6 of them several months ago and they have been slowly dieing off. I keep German Blue Rams so my water is pretty soft (2-3 GH), so maybe they don't have enough calcium or something to live properly? Or is there something else they are particularly sensitive to? Thanks!

I've kept mine in soft water (4-5 degrees) for a couple months and they haven't died. Maybe your Ram is picking on them? Highly unlikely though.

They are very sensitive to copper (as are most inverts).

Or possibly you bought them at an old age? How many are left?

Where can i find cuttlebone and what are the signs of shell erosion?
Cuttlebone is usually found in the bird section at Petsmart...lol they like to chew on it for extra calcium I guess.

Or you can dose iodine (or whatever contains calcium) from the saltwater section.

Shell erosion would be like holes in the shell, dents, etc.
