I've read of some people adding them to tanks, an herd of others trying to get rid of them. A few have popped up in my tank, should I be worried?

they are good for aerating the soil but like all other snails they need to be kept in check or they will get out of control

dont over feed. i keep 4 in my 2.5 and i crush all the babies i see to make sure the population stays down. i use them in shrimp tanks to clean up the left over food and avoid water pollution.

Oh yeah watch out with these snails. I started with 10 in a 90 gallon tank and alittle over 6 months later I found myself sucking tons of them out of my tank on a weekly basis! It looked like my eco-complete was alive. They are good to have tho!

they also do a great job with extending the lifespan of my substrate(aquasoil) as it cleans up all the left over food stuck in the gaps and holes of the soil.
