Hello everyone,

My name is Mikeal Carr. I'm new here. :supz: I'm a little confused about wether or not i can put a pair of apistogramma cacatuoides in a 10 gallon tank with 3 rosy red minnows. Am I able to do it with both apistogramma at least 2" long each. One out of the three rosy red minnows the same length as the apistogramma. The other two rosy red minnows are at least 1 1/2" long each.

Hello Mikeal, welcome to APC.

In my experience keeping two cacatuoides in a 10g tank is alright. I have kept and bred several apistos including cacatuoides in 10g tanks.

However, apistos are somewhat territorial especially when breeding so keeping the three approximately two inch minnows with the cacatuoides in such a small tank is probably not a good idea.

I recommend at least a 20g tank for all those fish if not larger or a separate 10g tank for them.
