The inevitable has happened. I'm no longer satisfied with my PVC reactor for CO2 induction, and want to step up to CO2 mist.

The current plan is to shoot the CO2 into the intake of a powerhead fitted with a needlewheel impeller, either purchased or DIY.

Here's where I could use some help...

What powerhead should I use? The tank is a 40 breeder, and I use an XP3 for filtration, so there is plenty of water movement already.

How do I orientate the power head and filter outlet for the best circulation?

Should I run the power head and the reactor in conjunction, or am I better off using a single method?

Oa: The venturi mod on the reactor works pretty well actually. It keeps the reactor from getting a gas bubble in it, which would reduce back pressure, as I understand it. It isn't really producing a mist though, some larger bubbles make it into the tank... maybe I need to turn my flow down?

At any rate, I feel as if I'm not getting the reaction from the plants that I want. Almost everything looks good, but there is room for improvement. I'm hoping CO2 mist can bring the tank to that next level.

Niko: Nice reactor! Funny thing, I actually have that filter, but have already hacked the impeller for another purpose...
If I DIY the needlewheel, this project should only cost me around $10 anyway, as I can get powerheads for wholesale cost. Don't worry, I'm already a cheapskate
