Here’s my dilemma—my only source of well water (not softened with a softener) is the cold water in the kitchen sink. Or the hose. So, in refilling my aquariums, which are heated to 76-80, I only have water that is 10-15 degrees cooler. I’m afraid this will be detrimental to any inhabitants. Right now all I have are snails and they are fine, but I was hoping to keep some shrimp and nano fish.

I could slightly heat the refill water on the stove, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to get sick of that pretty quickly.

My questions are:

1. Does anyone else add colder water to a heated aquarium and is it an issue?
2. Any fish or shrimp suggestions for this situation? I could remove the heat and keep white clouds. Anything else?

My tanks are two 5 gallons, one 6 gallon, and one 2-gallon jar, so my choices are pretty limited.
