I need some new ideas. I'm thinking about getting rid of my 29. For some reason I'm tired of it, or maye I just don't have an imagination of what to plant it with, or maybe I just want to buy something new. It has no depth.... I am thinking about getting a cube because I have seen some cool looking designs in a few. Probably the smallest I would want is an ADA 30-c, but could go bigger. Whats a good size? For lighting I could use my 2x55 watt AHSupply kit, or I could get a new light, but I don't want to spend a fortune. I would like to hang a fixture or have something rest on the tank. This makes using the AHsupply kit tough unless I build a frame to put them in.

I'm also torn between doing an Iwagumi rock scape, low maintenace crypt/anubius/ferns/moss tank, or a high light stem plant tank....

Anyone have any cube garden pics they would like to share for ideas?

I really like the idea of trying some red shrimp...never kept them before. This makes me think a moss tank. What kinds of plants do shrimp love and seem to show up the best in? I would assume mostly green plants are best.

I have them in Java wendelov, with mosses and small plants They love the mosses. I have pellia in there too.

Plus building my own stand will give me something to do in the next few weeks. Is there another size cube that is slightly bigger than the 30-C?

Another question...Rena XP2 with an hydor inline too big for a 30-c cube? I may also use an inline PVC diffusor, and that along with a heater would slow the flow quite a bit. I'm not sure I could fit all of that in a stand though. Maybe I should save up for one of those cal aqua inline diffusors or just use a disk in the tank.

There was just a thread somewhere the other day about reducing the size of tubing on canister filters. Could someone help me find it. I would want to use 1/2" glass pipes on this tank, but the filter is 5/8"...probably not a big deal to reduce to 1/2"

I like the size of the ADA 30, and his set-up is sweet. If it was me Id save for the Cal Aqua in line diffuser set up plugged into your canister. Only drawback would be the extra space the larger canister would take up in the cabinet underneath.

I would think an XP2 would give you a vortex in there. That seems like a TON of filtration. I have an XP1 on my 29g and it does very well.

For reducing I went to Home Depot and got their PVC reducers. I attached them all together with the clear tubing they sell. It worked fine. Cheap and convenient. As long as it's all hidden...

Fishandturlejunkie - I have been considering the inline diffusor. I wish they were not so expensive! I won't have a CO2 tank in the stand so I should have room for a canister. The CO2 line comes through the wall from another tank with a manifold

Texgal I think you may be right about that vortex thing I was thinking about some kind of eheim? Which model would be good for this size tank?

Also, Does anyone know why there is such a huge price increase from the ADA 30-C to the 45-C? $70 vs. $275! I was thinking about something a little bigger than the 30-c. Like a 16" cube or something.

I just got an eheim 2213 for my 10g and was very surprised about how big it is. I haven't hooked it up get because the basket lid is broken and I'm waiting for a replacement. I'll let you know how it goes. I understand you can adjust the flow rate on these so I may be fine.

I saw one in a lab here in the hort building the other day and thought it would make a sweet aquarium. There are no seams...all rounded edges. Whats even more stunning is the price!

They are too narrow with too little surface area but they are expensive I'll give you that! I'll stay with the Amano approach. Has anyone used the 100 mm nano he has in this second book. Holds about a liter!
