I am in the planning stages of a NPT blackwater tank. All the species of fish will be blackwater fish. I am thinking of planting the tank with crypts, low light stems, etc...I will be getting either the 15 long, or the 20 long. I am confused on the lighting aspect. What level of lights should I use? Not sure if NO T8's will work, or if I will need something a little stronger. I am looking to strictly adhere to to the NPT as much as possible. I am ok with slow growth. I want to get away from adding any nutrients if possible.

Where are you planning to place your aquarium? Is it by a South-facing window? If so, you can go with minimal lighting of about 1-2 wpg of standard Fluorescent lights.

I have a 20L NPT over which I have 2x18W T8s supplemented by the South-facing window sunlight.
