Can someone straighten me out. I usually let the sun grow my plants and while I have been around for awhile I have never tried growing plants under lights. OK. I did grow water sprite in my basement fish room under lights but the one thing I have always thought was that lights loose their intensity and should be changed after six months. On the for sale thread I see a number of adds for lights that have "only been used 6 months" , and some that are over a year or more older. The fixtures might be a great buy but wouldn't the bulbs have to be changed??? George:confused:

I change my PC bulbs out every 12-18 months, because they do lose their intensity. When I first came into this hobby I read that some use their bulbs until they burned out. But after I made a side by side comparison of a new & old bulb I could tell a huge difference in the two. Then when I turned the new bulb on over the tank it was much brighter & the color was different to.
