Okay I am picking people's brains. I just got my Marsilea augustifolia and have no clue how to plant it. Can I top and plant the tops? Is this submersed growth or emersed? Thanks for the help.

HOLD THE PRESS!!! You want the rhizomes NOT the tops.

Treat the M. augustifolia exactly as you would with glosso: plant each leaflet or pair of leaflets WITH the rhizome every .5-1" apart. Don't bury it too deeply because the submerse leaves are very short and small: not unlike glosso. Once you notice new leaves, then cut the tall emergent leaves off. Within a matter of weeks under good conditions, you'll have a dense carpet.
Okay. You the man. That's why I didn't do anything until I picked some brains. Thank you.
Mike, how did it go? My thoughts... arrrrggghhhhhhhh.

I just finished planting mine. A buncha bout the size of yours, 2 hours. I don't know how it will do. It was a #%^@#^&*&* trying to seperate ou the individual plantlets. I have had mine floating since monday at noon and there was a fair amount of new growth. Of course, this was at rightangles to the rhizomes since it was floating. I planted everything that did not fall apart, regardless of new growth or not. I tried to leave 2-3 "nodes" per peice with atleast 1 decent stem and leaf attached.. Well see how it looks ina week or two.

Hope ours was fun too:)

I seperated some and planted them in my 20 long with higher light and tossed a few to float in my 10 gallon for now. I have some more plants coming Thursday and will need to remove some water on the low light 10. I will plant it then. Yah this looks it will be a pain in the behind but worth trying. I'll post tomorrow after I get the tank fully planted.
