I know this isn't a pond site, but I thought I'd ask anyway since there's so much knowledge here.
My neighbor has a pond pump that needs replacing after 20 years. He was using a heavy duty submersible (1/2 HP) solids handling sump pump to push a 6-8' head. A direct replacement is approx $200.
The solids is only for dirt that the occasional gopher might kick into the pond. The pond is on the side of a hill and only runs a couple hours a day.
Is there any recommendations from the peanut gallery?
