Quiet Meadow (29g)

Well after a mishap with my excel and alot of dead fish. I decided to start over my 29g aquascape.

Lighting (130w over 8 hours)

Co2 (DIY)

Ferts (EI method, for now)

Plants: Amazon sword, Wisteria, Anubias Coffieolia, Ludwiga Repens, Ricca, Alternanthera reineckii 'lilacina', Chrismas and Flame moss.

Pennflex 1000 canister filter.

Fish: Two creamscicle lyretail mollies, 10 Cardinal Tetras (For now)

I plan on covering the open area with a field of Ricca soon enough, and after that, maybe remove the amazon sword and put some other stem plants in its place. Dont know which yet, some input would be amazing!

Of course, the amazon sword will grow wayyyy...infinity...too big. If you have the light/ferts/CO2, you could place a lot of stems in there, but I usually get annoyed of the maintenance and prefer slow growing ferns and rhizomed plants and variable crypt species.

The only other criticism I have for now is the choice of rock and their placement. I recommend visiting the LFS and looking at some of their rock, which usually are more natural looking and have a better chance of not disrupting water hardness.

What's with the purple stuff on the sword and anubias?
And, what substrate are you using?
Flourite Black sand, and its BBA (that purple stuff)

And i plan on swapping out the rocks soon enough (probably friday)
Good job on the purple stuff! :D It should fall off soon. Do you have any ottos in there? Sorry about your fish accident.

Do you have any plans for the wide open space? Perhaps a small groundcover? Right now it looks like it's just waiting for something - having been rocked off.

And Tex Gal was right. it was indeed waiting for something. I recently aquired some ricca which i plan to use as a ricca field soon enough.

15 cardinal tetras, and 4 mollies (and about 10 molly babies) and some RCS

Here's some updated pictures.

I like the rescape, although you still have a large section in the front that needs to be filled. The rocks look much better.
a agree the rocks that you have in there now look alot better. so far its looking really nice.
Waiting for the ricca to grow out (the floating ones) and then sink them to the bottom.
