Do I have any chance of success with this plant in hard water? My GH is anywhere from 15° (out of the tap) to 20+° in my tank. I tried R. Magenta when I first started and it melted away after three weeks. The Tropica site only lists Macrandra (not Magenta), and has it as very soft-medium hardness, which is also what it lists Wallichii as.

So has anyone successfully grown Wallichii in hard water?

Thanks.

I've had reasonable success growing it in tap water at GH 12. It does grow and look reasonably healthy, albeit very touchy. That said, it was MUCH easier to grow in tap water with GH 5-6, KH 4. The stems in the softer water were less touchy about nutrients, grew faster, larger, and lusher.
