I started this tank about a month and a half ago. I was somewhat trying to imitate Orion2001's tank (http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/aquascaping/53868-my-first-planted-tank-10-gallon.html) - it seemed like one of the more professional looking first tanks I've seen on here, and that seemed like a good place to start. I've been lurking for about 4 years now, and finally decided to take the plunge now that I'm out of dorms. For the past month and a half, I've been attempting to grow dwarf hairgrass emersed, but with little success. The rest of my plants came in two days ago, and the progression is below!

Any recommendations for fish? I'd like a group of tightly schooling fish, possibly something in the rasbora family? The wood in the initial photo is a piece that I picked up and hoped to use before realizing it was a softwood. I tried to find a piece like it for the 'rise' effect, but it didn't turn out quite like I wanted it to. Any tips or suggestions for scaping or photography? If it's something major, I probably won't have time to rework it, but criticism will definitely be helpful for my next tank!

Plants:
Anubias barteri var. nana
Anubias barteri var. petite
Microsorum pteropus
Ludwigia repens (back right)
Echinodorus tenellus (back left)
Taxiphyllum barbieri (java moss)

Misc:
Aquaclear Power Filter 20
Substrate - Fluorite
Two 15W CFLs (on for 10 hours)
1 mL Excel every other day
1/16 teaspoon of KNO3 two times a week
1/32 teaspoon of KH2PO4 two times a week

The wood is manzanita from www.manzanita.com, most of the plants are from www.bobstropicalplants.com, and some of the DHG is from an APC poster.

PS: I should mention that fiddling with my aquarium and posting to APC is an excellent distraction for studying for finals :D
