removing the supportive glass from my tank

its a 60*50*50 cm tank glass only - on top of it there is two supportive pieces of 15*50cm attached with silicone to the sides to support the whole tank ( maybe ??) - do u think i can remove them completly? if not- can i remove them to make them smaller (say 4*50 cm ), even one by one.
more info -
the glass is 8 mm thick and i fill the tank 42 cm - so its 126 liters only or about 30gal.

Usually that center support is needed to keep the tank from bowing out when filled with water. You may be able to get away with using a smaller piece, but I wouldnt mess with it much if it were my tank. Hope that helps.
